I did look at Stack Overflow #21260542 and the recommended solutions, however v6.9.3 of the MySql Connector .Net has issues with the uninstall/install.
I have never had any issues uninstalling and updating MySQL Connector .Net, however now I do. There is definitely an issue with that specific build.
The recommended solutions are
* Use the Microsoft Fix-It tool
* Remove all references to "MySQL Connector Net" in the registry
I have that specific build installed on my home PC. I tried to uninstall 6.9.3 and was not able to do so, even after a reboot. I saw that article and ran Microsoft Fix-It (big mistake). That "uninstalled" the product from Programs and Features in the Windows Control Panel, however left the registry entries and the folder. I then manually removed the registry entries (obviously not well enough) and deleted the folder. I then rebooted. Version 6.9.5 only installed one file and no entry entry in the CP, basically the installation failed and the installation utility did not clean up after itself properly or leave any log.
I just tried to uninstall 6.9.3 from my Windows 7 box, the other being a Windows 8.1 box, and I cannot uninstall 6.9.3. It goes through the motion and nothing, same behavior.
The problem with "remove all 'MySQL Connector Net' entries from the registry is that there are GUI-ID keys and other keys and the whole thing is interconnected. Manually tinkering with the registry is a very bad thing to do and obviously caused issues.
Thoughts on
1. Recovering on my Windows 8.1 box
2. How to uninstall 6.9.3 from my Windows 7 box
