Reading from the stream has failed (no replies)

Hi
I have just installed and created a new DB & around 30 tables in it. Unfortunately I cannot open the db now now. I am getting "MySql Database Error - Reading from the stream has failed" message. I am using Toad to communicate with MySql. I am not getting any other exception details.

I am using Vista Home Premium.
Mysql - mysql-essential-5.1.53-win32
Toad - ToadforMySQL_Freeware_5.0.0.345
